Claire Wiltsher creates semi-abstract, impressionistic landscapes inspired by our beautiful New Forest national park, the south coast and locations further afield. She combines oil with collage to create mixed media paintings that convey a deep sense of place whilst rejecting the need for total recognition. Those who love Claire's work are absorbed into each landscape, finding that previously unseen details and suggestions emerge after careful contemplation. Her work has attracted much critical acclaim. In 2010 the Society of Women Artists recognised Claire's talent with the 'Rosemary and Co' annual award. Also that year the Royal Society of Marine Artists selected Claire's work for exhibition at the Mall Galleries. More recently, and following our successful submission to the House of Lords Works of Art Committee, Claire's paintings were chosen for acquisition by the House's permanent collection. We show Claire's work all year round so whenever you visit you will find examples in the gallery.
